Job Title: Tax Analyst Internship (Seasonal Position)

Pay:

$17 per hour, plus bonuses. Freaking bonuses!

Position Summary:

We are seeking an analytical and highly motivated Tax Analyst Intern to assist with preparing tax returns during our busy tax season. This is a seasonal position offering an opportunity for practical tax preparation experience. The ideal candidate will be able to collect, organize, and input data necessary for tax returns and move them to the next stage of review. You’re going to need colossal initiative and be fast on your feet.

Key Responsibilities:

📂 Collect and organize necessary data to prepare tax returns.

💻 Input tax return data into the Drake Tax Software system.

📞 Identify missing information and proactively communicate with clients to obtain missing data.

Move tax returns to the “ready for review” status once all necessary information is entered.

🗂️ Perform administrative tasks as needed, including organizing the office, marketing tasks, and assisting with office functions.

📑 Ensure all tax return information is compiled into a single PDF file with proper bookmarks.

🔄 Assist with other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

One or two people may fill the position. Preference will be given to one person who can commit to working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. There is potential for Saturday work if necessary.

Physical Demands:

💪 Must lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., paper case).

🪑 Requires sitting for extended periods.

🖥️ Requires use of a computer, telephone, and other office equipment.

🔍 Must be able to see small print on paper and dual monitors.

Training

On-the-job training will be provided for the following software applications:

Drake Tax Software: Tax preparation software.

Monday.com: Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

Squarespace Scheduling: Client scheduling tool.

Drake Portals: Secure file transfer portal.

Zoom: Remote visual client meetings.

ChatGPT: For simplistic research and administrative task assistance.

FoxIt: PDF creation software.

No other internship teaches you all of this. 

Key Requirements

✔️ Must be a Junior or Senior level student or have equivalent experience working in a tax office (with references)

✔️ Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. We use Excel heavily, so it’s a good idea to brush up on it before your interview. 

✔️ Strong communication skills (oral and written)

✔️ Technologically savvy and able to adapt quickly to new software.

✔️ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that can get hectic at times.

✔️ Punctual, professional, and able to maintain a clean and organized workspace.

✔️ Must work well as part of a team and be willing to go above and beyond.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate: $17 per hour, plus bonuses.

PTO: 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (as per NJ State requirements).

Bonus: $200 bonus for each 30 days of no missed days and no lateness.

Unused PTO: Paid out by May 1, 2025.

Free Tax Preparation Services: Available to all employees.

Continuing Education: Provided as required by the employer.

  • ➡️ Interview Period: Interviews will be conducted from December 9-18, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at our office.
  • ➡️ The interview process will include two interviews: The first will include competency tests on Excel, Codification & a simple bank reconciliation. Candidates will be invited for a second interview based on the initial interview’s personality score and the competency test results.

Employment Duration

📅 January 8, 2025 – April 30, 2025. Unless you make yourself legendary during your employment. Then, we won’t want to let you go.
